Meet Samia
My name is Samia. I am sixteen years old, in the 10th grade, and my hometown is Bridgeport, CT. I am thankful to be a member of the 2023 Flight Crew!
STEM is important to me because I want to learn all that I can in order to pursue my goal to start my own Artificial Intelligence Company, that would build and develop robots to help our world be a better place. Wanting to learn more about STEM, I participated in a Bridgeport Public School’s Girls Who Code Program, where I learned how to use Scratch, Code.org, and Thunkable. As time passed, I continued to grow my passions, through FIRST Girls Robotics, a monthly STEAM program, and virtual summer robotics programs through UBTech and Smart Buddies kits.
I currently attend Hopkins School, which is a private college prep located in New Haven, CT. Although this school offers many opportunities for me to continue STEM, such as their FTC robotics team, I still participate in many activities in my Bridgeport Community because it offers me camaraderie and friendship from my peers and mentors who look like me. Through ACCESS Educational Services, I am a proud member of the National Society of Black Engineers NSBE Jr. Chapter and of their FIRST Robotics Competition Team (FRC).
My future plans and endeavors are to encourage, learn, and share experiences with other young ladies from different backgrounds who aspire to be STEM leaders.
