Meet Tamar
My name's Tamar, I'm 17 years old, live in Massachusetts, and am a member of the 2023 Flight Crew. The Million Girls Moonshot 2023 Flight Crew program has 43 participants, representing 37 states across the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii)!
This year’s Flight Crew participants engage in many STEM-related activities and afterschool programs, including Boys & Girls Club, Girls Who Code, 4-H Afterschool Programs, Girls Scouts of America, VEX Robotics, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics. The participants also demonstrate a passion for a variety of interests, such as rocketry, app creation, veterinary medicine, and advocacy work. The following 13 states are not represented in this year’s Flight Crew: Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.
A few passions of mine are ultrasound technology, biology, and human anatomy. STEM is important to me because STEM is used to solve current problems and pave the way for a healthier, cleaner future. My STEM story started when I got my first phone, I would binge-watch science YouTubers constantly! Two summers later, my mom received an email about a summer program with an organization called "Science Club For Girls" and met many brilliant young females who love science as much as I do.
As for the future, I’m considering majoring in Oncology or Public Health. Career-wise, I'm interested in becoming an Ultrasound Technician, a Pediatrician, or a Biologist. No matter what I become, I want to harness everything I've learned and the tools I've gathered to help my communities.
