It’s Time for Takeoff! Apply Now for the 2025 Flight Crew of STEM Next!
STEM Next Opportunity Fund is looking for afterschool STEM champions to join the 2025 Flight Crew! STEM Next has launched a nationwide search for the next cohort of the Flight Crew— a national youth ambassador program promoting the value of out-of-school STEM learning for all young people across the nation.
All youth ages 13-18 with experience in afterschool and summer STEM learning and an interest in public speaking are encouraged to apply. The deadline is March 12.

The Flight Crew features remarkable youth leaders who represent their states, show what’s possible, and spark their peers’ curiosity in STEM. Motivated by their impactful STEM experiences beyond the classroom, Flight Crew members share their stories on regional, state and national stages and lend their voices to push for more STEM opportunities in out-of-school-time.
Since its debut, the Flight Crew has been recognized by state leaders, the White House, NASA, The National STEM Festival, SXSW EDU and more.
From April-December 2025, selected Flight Crew members will:
Act as a champion for OST STEM by sharing their first-hand, impactful STEM experiences beyond the classroom;
Work with state leaders on relevant opportunities to advocate for OST STEM, create social media content and connect with media;
Aspire to break down stereotypes and spark their peers' curiosity in STEM by connecting their STEM experiences to everyday life;
Engage in leadership development opportunities, including public speaking, social media, and connections to mentors;
Receive resume and interview coaching as well as access to scholarships and internships
